Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Tallahassee Housing Authority along with Dozens of local elected officials and others, such as THA Executive Director Brenda Williams and President of Columbia Residential Carmen Chubb, gathered at the new apartment complex. The ribbon cutting acknowledged the completion of Phase 1 and continuation of Phase 2. The total of the two phases amounts to nearly $84 million worth of construction. Combined they will provide 290 family units, 130 for the first phase and 160 for the second.

Orange Avenue Update – November 2023

Phase I anticipating a Spring 2024 completion! The first building of the new Columbia Garden Apartment construction is moving quickly. Grading is ongoing of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and asphalt paving. Building I is rapidly completing tile, cabinets, countertops, flooring, plumbing and siding installations. Building framing and roof for Phase 2 is completed. Tyvek ongoing Phase III (Sebring and Bates) a letter of recommendation given to THA, contract is pending.

Job Fair 2022

THA hosted a Job Fair along with Columbia Residential, Tallahassee Community College, and Mad Dog Construction, where we had more than 100 applicants apply and be interviewed for trade positions for the Orange Avenue Redevelopment Project. We had a live Remote and Pop-Up breakfast for the applicants sponsored by Christi Henry. We were also joined by members of the THA Board of Commissioners Chairman Kendall Jones, Dr. James Moran, Courtney Atkins, and Cassandra Brown.

Tampa Housing Authority Site Visits

Site attendees: Executive Director Brenda Williams, Marco Moo Young Director Housing Choice Voucher, Tawana Thompson and Board Commissioners James Moran, Kendall Jones, Courtney Atkins and Cassandra Brown. Site visit entailed oversight of the Orange Avenue Redevelopment and specifically what to expect as we move to the construction phase of the project and hard hat tour of Tampa Housing active projects.
